Why Weighted Carries Should Be in Every Woman’s Routine

If you’re lifting weights but not doing weighted carries, it’s time to change that.

Think about your daily life for a moment.

What’s something you do almost every day or at least every week?

Lift and carry something.

Whether it’s groceries, picking up your kids (or dogs, like me 🐾), or moving things around the house or at work, these are real-world movements that require strength.

If you’re only doing the usual “chest and bicep” type workouts but not picking up weights and carrying them, you’re missing out on a key component of functional strength training.

Your body is meant to LIFT & CARRY THINGS.

Why Weighted Carries Are a Game-Changer

Here’s the truth: there’s nothing more functional for real-world strength than weighted carries. If it’s okay to lift weights in the gym, why not lift and carry them too?

In almost all of my classes and programs, you’ll find variations of weighted carries. 🏋️‍♀️ Whether it’s Farmers Walks or Kettlebell Suitcase Carries, these exercises are a staple—and for good reason.

What I LOVE hearing from women who start doing carries is how much stronger they feel, not just in the gym but in everyday life. And that’s the ultimate goal, right?

Stronger in the Gym = Stronger in Life

Your training in the gym should make you stronger in your day-to-day life. And there’s no better way to build that kind of real-world strength than lifting and carrying weights. Yesterday, we hit Farmers Walks in my class, and last week, we mixed it up with Kettlebell Weighted Carries.

The bottom line?

Add a weighted carry to every workout. It’s a simple, yet incredibly effective way to build full-body strength that translates beyond the gym.

Don’t neglect real-world functional strength—it’s the most important strength you can build.

Stay strong,
