FU*K THE SCALES
The ONLY time I care about body weight when working with clients

Happy Tuesday and welcome to our “Transformation Tuesday” email!
Every Tuesday, we dive into topics related to body transformation and body recomposition.
Yesterday, I had a conversation with one of my clients who is currently focusing on fat loss and body recomp. She has been making fantastic progress and seeing awesome results.
She asked me, “What do you think my ideal body weight would be?”
My response to her was: “Whatever body weight you are strong, lean and feel good.”
Notice I did NOT give her a specific body weight goal. Instead, I set a performance goal and an aesthetics goal.
Here’s the thing: I hate the scale.
It’s a poor measure of progress and can really mess with a lot of women psychologically.
When I work with a client, I give them two options:
1. Weigh in once a week
2. Don’t weigh in at all
For clients who choose weekly weigh-ins, it’s not about the number on the scale. It’s about the conversation we have during the weigh-in process. This time is for me to chat with them, ask questions, get feedback, and much more.
For the most part, I don’t care what the scale says. But I DO care about what my clients share during our conversations.
When I coach women for fat loss, it’s NOT about the weight on the scale. The ONLY time I focus on the scale is if my clients are participating in a sport like powerlifting, where they have to make a weight class.
If you’re aiming to get leaner, stronger, and transform your body, the scale is just one of many things to consider, and it’s at the bottom of that list.
Things you should focus on:
1. How your clothes fit
2. How you look
3. How you feel
4. Inches lost
5. Performance/strength
6. Scale/body weight
The scale is just one of many indicators and should not be your primary focus.
I discussed this in a previous email about Outcome Goals vs. Process Goals:
Outcome Goals = Focusing on the end goal.
Process Goals = Focusing on the things you can control.
Here’s the thing: If you do the right things consistently over time, the right results will happen. Focusing solely on the outcome can make you miss the bigger picture.
If you want to transform your body and achieve results, here’s what you should focus on:
- Following a proven program that works
- Paying attention to your nutrition, habits, and lifestyle
- Being patient
- Trusting the process
- Enjoying the process
- Lastly, FU*K THE SCALES
Focus on doing the right things and not just on the number on the scale.
Remember, true transformation is about consistency, strength, and overall well-being, NOT the scale.
I hope this email provides you with valuable insights and encourages you to trust and enjoy the process.
