Everyone Woman Should Be Doing This In Training
But Most Aren't....
I’m talking about weighted carries — one of the simplest, most powerful, and most overlooked exercises you can do.
Most women head to the gym to lift weights.
But think about this for a second —
you go to the gym to lift weights, yet how often do you actually carry them?
Carrying weights builds the kind of strength that shows up everywhere — not just in the gym, but in real life.
When you pick up groceries, move furniture, carry your kids, or even load luggage — that’s all real-world strength.
Weighted carries train your:
💪 Grip strength
🔥 Core stability
🦵 Full-body coordination and balance
💓 Postural endurance and recovery
💥 And they dramatically reduce the risk of injury — especially as you get older.
Two of my amazing clients, Ruby (77) and Lynn (70), are perfect examples of this.
In the videos I’ve shared below, you’ll see them doing heavy kettlebell farmer’s carries — walking strong, stable, and confident with each step.
That’s the kind of strength that keeps you independent, mobile, and injury-free for life.
The beauty of carries is how simple they are.
You can do them with kettlebells, dumbbells, or even household items. Just pick up something heavy, walk tall, and own the weight.
So here’s my coaching tip for this week:
🏋️♀️ Coach Rob’s Top 5 Weighted Carries
Here are a few of my go-to variations you can do with kettlebells or dumbbells:
Farmer’s Walks – one in each hand, walk tall and controlled.
Suitcase Carries – one side only, amazing for core and posture.
Goblet Carries – hold one weight at your chest, perfect for beginners.
Bottoms-Up Carries – balance the bell upside down, great for shoulder stability.
Overhead Carries – advanced variation that challenges your core and control.
You can mix and match these weekly — short and heavy, or light and long distance — both work incredibly well.
So here’s my coaching tip for this week:
➡️ Along with lifting weights — make sure you’re carrying weights.
ALL my clients at my gym, online and in the WWLA app do weighted carries. If you aren’t doing some you should consider adding them to your training.
They are simple (but not easy), easy to do and very effective.
Train strong, but train smart.
