4 Reasons Why You Should Do Box Jumps

#4 Will Surprise You

Yesterday in classes at my gym the Heavy Weights Barbell Club, I had my clients doing box jumps—and let me tell you, they were on fire it! 🔥

I posted some videos on our WWLW Instagram, so be sure to check them out below.

Box jumps aren’t just for athletes; they’re an incredible tool for women who lift weights!

Whether your goal is to get stronger, leaner, or more explosive, here’s why you should be adding them to your training:

🏋️‍♀️ Explosive Power – Box jumps fire up fast-twitch muscle fibers, helping you generate more force for heavier squats and deadlifts.

🍑 Stronger Legs & Glutes – They build serious lower-body strength, improve balance, coordination, and stability—all essential for lifting heavy.

Increased Athleticism – They boost speed, agility, and overall athletic performance, making you more powerful inside and outside the gym.

🔥 Fat Loss & Conditioning – Box jumps are a high-intensity movement that burns calories, improves endurance, and helps you build lean muscle for a stronger, more defined physique.

Think box jumps are too advanced?

No worries! You can start low and progress up, just like in strength training.

Check out this video from one of my clients when she was first learning box jumps.

Note: Don’t try to jump too high, try to avoid wooden and metal boxes and do your best to not jump when tired.

Train hard, but train smart.
